Modelling On The Stand/Drapping

BASIC BODIC BLOCK

 pinned down centre front 

2cm seam allowance at neckline

arm hole pinned with a 1cm seam allowance 

cut into neck line to give ease

DRAPING 

Here I used a crepe fabric as I knew it would work better than calico when draping. I folded the top right corner on the bias and pinned the fabric at the shoulder to create a free flowing cowl neck, I feel this is really effective and I like the way the drape falls.

Overall I enjoyed learning how to model on the stand and I will incorporate it into my patterning as I feel it is quick and very effective when draping and trying to get exact measurements.

My new brief is to design and make a sustainable garment made out of any kind of fabric I wish, I have decided I am going to use a range of fabrics including towels, curtain lining and my left over shower curtains from my FMP garment last year.

Down the back of my garment (which will be oversized and boxy like I like) will have draped towels. The image above shows some modelling on the stand I did and a little observational drawing to go along with it
