Not the normal

 

On Tuesday the unexpected happened! I was just casually writing up my toile dairy and the next minute I was sat on a photo shoot.. no I hadn't fell asleep! A photography student came up and asked me and my friend Jenny for a helping hand. She briefed us with a very small brief which meant me and Jen could just go as crazy as possible and thats what we did! She wanted a cover for the model as she was taking some beauty shots, at first she just simply wanted a white creased fabric to go over her clothing but when we were hunting in the fabric cupboard I came across this really cool fabric that has black detail on and we all simply fell in love and felt it was the one, we also strangely enough came across what we just thought was a ball of white netting hid away on the top shelf but it was a tutu and when messing around as we do we thought it looked pretty awesome placed around the neck sticking up over the head (please don't ask how we found this out....) but yes that turned out to be a pretty cool shot and over all the photograph seemed pretty happy with our work.

I had fun doing the unexpected and felt that it worked out really well, I have also decide to buy the fabric we found in the cupboard as I have some little ideas floating around my head for a shoot of my own as I just loved the way the fabric photographed sooooo will see hey.

Disaster Disaster!

Well after slaving away getting my dress finished in time for my shoot today I faced a massive problem which set me back about a million times. I stupidly never checked the heat of my iron at homw when going to do the hems and melted the fabric! So my relation with the iron is no 0 and I have no self confidence with it at all. So this morning as soon as I got to college I got straight onto it and re patterned that piece, and I managed to fix it and do all the hems in time. So by now the disaster was over and I got cracking on the make up and hair for my model, I decided I wanted really natural hair and natural makeup just with a bright lip to give it a pop.

This Is Not A Swan

I came across this photo shoot and I really fell in love with it! I love the way the illustration and collage is used with it. The photographer is Marc Hibbert and the styling is done by Mariner German. I think its very upbeat and fun, its very contemporary which I like. I am going to use this as inspiration for my shoot for my Giles Deacon dress.

For this brief each one of us has had to choose a painting and my fellow friend asked me to  model for her, I couldn't really say no which was fine anyway as I was happy to do it. After agreeing I sat and thought about it and looked at her photo as realised that I don't really have a good pose never mind the ability to stay still for a long time, but hey ho. One the day it was very stressful as my shoot was literally minutes between me modelling and me styling my shoot (I felt much more comfortable doing my own than being the model). Putting aside we have literally minutes to get ready and I had to squeeze into the dress, I think the outcome is very good and it defiantly portrays the painting in a strong way. They way photoshop has been used to create the effect really pulls the image together. I did enjoy doing this task but I would much prepare to be behind the camera rather than in front haha.

This image from an old film gave my inspiration for my hairstyle

Here I have trailed out the pinned up hair style to see if it works or not for my look, I think it looks good and gives the right look to my model.

Another hair option 

Here I have adjusted the draping of the material because i was unhappy with the way it feel.

Here two images are inspiration for my make up look as I think they look quite natural but show a dark eye and bold features, I would have to adjust both these two looks by adding some bold blusher to the higher cheekbone area.
