Clothes Show Live Competition

So last week in college I entered the Clothes Show Live Young Designer Of The Year, for this I had to create a target customer board, an inspiration board and a design board. The design of the outfit had to fit the the brief which was the ultimate Clothes Show Party Girl and celebrates her individuality as well as incorporating a real fun factor. Here is my entry...

Inspiration- Ice cubes

My inspiration for the Clothes Show Live brief was a young Fashion Photographer, aged 20-24, who has a strong drive towards contemporary fashion, enjoys social media, partying and the London lifestyle. Also she is not scared to push binderies with her style and way of life.

The concept behind my entry was an image I took of a glass of ice cubes. I found it very inspiring in the way the lines inside the ice flowed together. This led me onto draping on the stand as I felt it reflected the way the lines formed an innovative effect relating to my primary source. When conveying the lines it gave me the initial idea for the silhouette, from this it led onto my design that I feel, is outgoing and fun with an element of art and innovative fashion. My fabric choice would be a light weight silk fabric that will allow me to create a marble effect on to it as that would show my ice cube image in the way the coloring works together and the lines create a pattern.

MMM Capsule Collection

For the Sustainability brief we have been given the task of designing a Capsule Collection for a given brand, mine being Martin Margiela (which I was very happy about as it is within my comfort zone!!). We have to design and develop 40 front and back designs to then pick a range to put on two design boards, when designing I had to use my trend research within the development to convey my own style. I have also had to pick suitable fabrics for this collection, they have to be within my colour scheme which is grey, olive and dusty pink, these colours links to my colour trend research. So for now until I have finished here is a picture of my collection lined up in the order I have chosen...

 My Design

Here I have developed my design by adding a sleeve to make it more ready- to- wear rather than visionary as before hand it was more like a cape.
