Baby Pink

So a Thursday is my study day which means I just work at home and besides writing essays all day long I took a trip to M&S (which means m&s foooood for dinner tonight!!). And I'm sure youll know that baby pink is every where at the moment the shops are full with it, and there is a very popular M&S winter coat that is extremly popular as well as its the oversized boyish style in baby pink which links two key autumn trends together!! what else could you ask for hey???

Well I heard it had sold out everywhere.. but I found out for myself.. NO IT HASNT! I seen it today, not in my size or anything but there were a few left on the rail and I must say I really liked the detail on the pockets and the structure of the collar was also a key feature for me.

But yes everything I seem to have at the moment is pink (I don't know if thats good or bad because I think I prefer black haha).

JAMES NORTH SS 14

Manchester Manchester

Today with college we took a trip to Manchester to do some primary research, we were on the hunt for all things sustainable in fashion from companies policies, to fabrics and collections! After a well deserved Nandos and a look around some of the shops (window shopping isn't so fun) we headed down to the costume Gallery where they have a new collection of dior's garments. I found the visit to the gallery helpful for inspiration on different features of garments that I may consider using when designing, I also liked just looking around and seeing how styles and trends have changed and how quickly!!

VB

THIS DRESSSS!!!!!

Yet so simple yet so chic! This dress is taken from Victoria Victoria Beckham SS14. She looks so amazing in it and the colour and fabric choices are both amazing. The shape is so simple and the dress would be easy to manufacture... its ever so tempting to have ago and put my own spin on it

Two trends

Within me new brief we have to research into 2 current trends and 2 colour schemes.

TRENDS

 OVERSIZED/UNISEX

Now me as a person I perticually like oversized garments so I thought I would look into oversize/unisex as I feel the feminine edge and masculine look really bounce off each in a creative and stylish way. I think the looks convey a contemporary uniformed look with a strong aspect of tailoring coming through in the suiting and pin stripes. Also oversized garments are all about hiding the silhouette  and creating any shape you want which allows creativity to flow.

TARTAN

Tartan was my 2nd trend as I am a massive tartan fan! I feel it brings a warm aspect to any outfit, also its a key trend this A/W. The cultural reference behind tartan is scottish bagpipe players as thats where it originates from. When looking into this trend I became fond of the Stella McCartney collection (top middle) as it really reminded me of the laundry bags you can get. Tartan also has a masculine edge to it which links to my 1st trend.

Favourite blogs

So like most Fashion students I go on every social media site and follow near enough the same people/magazines/celebratriy style icons on Twitter, Instagram ect all for one purpose to see what they are wearing or to get the latest trends! Recently blogs are the new big thing to follow trends and get the latest fashion. I am a massive follower of blogs and here are my top 3 favourites at the moment....

I especially love this time of year are its LFW and most of the top bloggers get invites to big shows which means you get an inside view from your computer screen and to see what they are wearing!!!

THE MAN REPELLER

This blog is written by New Yorker Leandra Medine. She writes posts about her style, what she wears, trend reviews, shows she attends, beauty ect. I find myself drawn back to her blog because she tends to add humour to her posts which is always a bonus as I find myself giggling away as I am reading, I also like her style as she isn't scared to push boundaries.

WEWOREWHAT BY DANIELLE

Weworewhat is a blog all about style and daily outfits. Danielle who is from NYC first started this blog as a street style blog but she later developed it into a personal style dairy. Her posts include lots of good photography and she also puts down where she got outfits from which is a bonus.

5 INCH AND UP

Orginally from Finland but now living in London Sandra Hagelstam's blog is a key personal style blog. She fills you in on her day to day where abouts and what shes been wearing. I like the way her posts of simple yet her photography and outfits are the main feature.
